hi,
I have a question for all you rod builders… I just bought a Batson RX7 rod blank, it is 7 weight 91/2 feet and a three piece. I can’t seem to find anyplace that has the guide spacing measurements. A couple web sites have spacing measurements for a two piece or four piece, but not the three. thanks for any help
If you can’t find spacing for three piece compare the 2 and 4 pc. specs. They are probably pretty close to the same. Put little pieces of tape on rod at spacing and see how they hit. You want guides close to ferruls (on female part). If they are close to what you like you can fudge them a little bit. Tape guides in place and line the rod up. Have someone hold the rod up and pull on line like a fish on. Arc should be smooth and even. Take it out and cast it and see how it works. It’s not scientific but I’ve done this with good results. Also if you go to rodbuildingforum.com they have a guide spacing chart that works pretty well. They list a 5/6 91/2 ft that should be close. Guide size will probably be a little different. Good Luck
Mike PS I would probably use two stripping guides on that long a rod. My opinions only.
I think this is the [url=http://www.farnorthrodsmiths.com/GuideCalculator.msi:ea66c]Guide Calculator[/url:ea66c] I installed.

Tape and perform static testing and check spacing, adjust if necessary.
The number of sections is 100% irrelevant, static testing will get you where you need to be dependent on rod action.
Thanks guys
will do as suggested
