Guide Question

Got a Question I haven’t had much luck in finding the answer to.
Using single foot guides, does the “Tilt”(angle) of the eye go towards the “Tip” or the butt?
Thanx Bill

I think I understand your question.
The foot of the guide points to the grip of the rod the eye itself will tilt towards the tip.

In this pic the tip of the rod would be to the right, the grip to the left.

Not sure about the “tilt” of the guide, but people traditionally put the side with the foot toward the butt of the blank. I would guess the guide would tilt away from the foot and as such the tilt would then go toward the tip.

Many Thanks for the replys.
They make sense, thats probaly why I didn’t think of it.
Thanx Bill

There should be no tilt or angle. The guides should sit perpenticular to the blank. I use a square and “tweek” the feet to make sure they are perfect.
