Guide for Tampa Area

Looks like Ill be in beautiful, sunny, Florida for the first week of next month and was wondering if any of you guys could recommend a good guide for the Tampa/Clearwater Area? Would like to get into some Snook and possibly some Reds and Trout.

Thanks ahead for any replies.

You might check out Cliff and his son. I hear they do pretty good. Not speaking from experience as I’ve not used them. Just feedback from others. All I’ve done is purchase materials and tools for tyin’ from them.

Go to Dan’s Custom Flies page at:

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and there is a list of links to local guides. All of them are good.

While you are there, check out some of Dan’s flies. He does nice work.

You can fish with those guys, OR you can fish with the BEST.

Capt. Rick Grassett - For reds, trout, pompano, baby tarpon and snook on the fly, including a great night snook trip on fly. www.snookfin-addict.com[/url:0f5d1]

Capt. James Wisner - The godfather of monster Permit and tarpon. http://www.tarponwiz.com[/url:0f5d1]

Capt. Dan Malzone - Technical redfish and tarpon on the fly. http://home.att.net/~capt.dan.malzone/[/url:0f5d1]

Remember, late april/ early May will be windy. Count on bringing a 9 or even a 10wt to throw just in case your 8wt will not cut it.

One BadSnook!

Thanks guys. I appreciate the info. Now time to get that double haul back into shape!
