Grrrr!

Well ,I am finaly going fishing, First trip for a few of months. Heading down to the Tongariro for the weekend so all should be sweet in my world.
My wife just phoned the roof is leaking, AGAIN. I have had it fixed 4 times so far, now it looks like I need a new roof, I can no longer afford to go fishing.
I don’t care I am going!
The weather forecast is in, HEAVY rain and strong winds all weekend so we may strugle to find some clean water to fish. :frowning:
I don’t care, the roof can leak as much as it likes, the wind may blow and the rain may fall, I am going fishing!
See you all on Monday, I am off!
Mike.

Mike
A very proper attitude!! Glad to see someone with things in order!

Jack, you had better get the spare room ready for Mike because I will bet Ms. Thomas is not as glad he is going fishing as you are!!

Mike,

I, too, am glad to see a man with his priorities straight. That being said, should you come home to a damp house and find all your possessions in a soggy pile on the front lawn, my spare room is not available.

With VEE looking over my shoulder as I type,

REE

Hi Mike,

The forcast is not looking any brighter I’m afraid. Hope you have better luck on the river than with the roof.

sounds like “the dreaded Nor’weeeesta” (to quote Chappy Chapman). Mike, keep your head up and enjoy your fishing. though you may well be better off spending your soaked weekend in the house with the Mrs!!!..

That’s the spirit, Mike!

Lets add this up:
(Leaking Roof + Soggy house)+ Soggy fishing x (finding belonging in front yard + pissed off wife) +(fishing trip + beer + buddies + Fun ) = huuuummmm ?? looks about equal to me, good luck with the roof and have fun with the new roof and liven alone :p:rolleyes:

The beauty of it all is… whatever happens, Mike won’t know till Monday, and its all over.

Sounds more an excellent story for (Reader’s Cast + Humor).

This old joke just seems to fit:

She said “If you touch that fishing pole I am moving home to mothers”

I sure am going to miss her.

I am home, my stuff is still in the house, my wife is only a little bit upset, the roof leaked big time, but I had a great weekends fishing with lots of fish caught in the rain and the river did not dirty up untill late on Saturday!
All the best.
Mike.

Well there ya go, sometimes you just gotta do it…

If John F. Kennedy were alive today, he would have included Mike Thomas in his book, Profiles in Courage. If Ernest Hemingway were alive today, he would have written a novel about this event called 'The Old Man and the Leaking Roof." Mike, I stand in absolute awe! Seriously! 8T

Well guys, thanks for the support.
I just got the quote for the new roof and its looking like about $8000 N.Z. so it could be the last trip for a while, so I am glad I just went and did it while I had the chance.
Oh yes, I met a nice guy called Mark who was on his retirement trip to N.Z. from Minesota (sp?) who is staying at Turangi for the next month to fish the Tongariro, got him joined up with the Tongariro and Lake Taupo Angling Club so he now has the chance to pick up all the local tips and stay somewhere a bit cheeper than a motel. He is not a member on FAOL so I told him to have a look at the site when he gets home!
All the best.
Mike.

Hi Mike,

I was wondering how you were doing! We had a few sunny periods, and I hope a few of them made it your way. Sorry to hear about the roof repair, but at least you got into a few fish to take away some of the pain.

Jeez Mike… just wot we need… another damned yankee… good on ya!
