A.K. Best mentions Gretzen deer hair in one of his books that I have (Production Fly Tying, I think) and in his video Tying Dry Flies. I have not seen any catalog or online mention of this hair which I believe is from the middle of the back on the hide.

I would like to get some of this as most of the deer hair patches I have are great for spinning but flair a lot when used for tailing and wings. Also I think AK said that this is the straightes hair on the skin.

So, where can one get some of this Gretzen hair?

The chart showing the different use areas from the skins may come in handy if my deer hunting freinds from PA ever offer me a skin.

Will have to give Chris a call. He does not have online ordering on his website.
