Greg is my new hero

gqualls - Greg offered to graciously help me out with my quest for BLUE BIOT. I wanted the shorter wider Biot. I posed the DYING question when Greg came to the rescue. He offered to send me some of his BLUE.
Well, He did and OMG this is exactly what I wanted. But he went above and beyond and sent several colors. So bright and beautiful. The best I have ever seen.
I am going to tie up some of my BUZZERS thanks to Greg giving me the final ingredient and I will post the pictures of the flies so you can see how perfect his DYING is.

THANK YOU GREG!!!

FG,

Anxious to see what you tie and you are right. Greg is a super guy. I’ve had a few dealings with him and found him to be one fine gentleman.

I have also had a few dealings with Greg and he is a very upstanding person and a very sharing person. You would have to look high and low to find a better person. I feel honored to call him my friend.

Gee whiz, thanks everyone. The flyfishing community is a breed of its own. I learned this truth when I started flyfishing and a total stranger provided some much needed hands on help. He also gave me several flies before he left. That was 9 years ago. I then found my way onto some of the flyfishing forums, and FAOL seemed a good place to hang out for a while. I read alot of what’s posted and learn something each week. I continue to be amazed at the flies people can tie and then they share recipes and instruction. Pretty cool stuff, if you ask me. I love the pictures and the persons story that goes with them. Yep, it’s a neat community comprised of such a diverse group you wonder how it works so well. All I know, it does work. Thanks to all of you who have helped along the way.

Davie McPhail

Ties a pretty neat buzzer with blue biots.

Betty

McPhail is an ace tyer not terribly well known on the International scene but what he does he does pretty well and in this instant incorporates an unusual blue biot!.

I am glad you liked it,

The kicker is…THEY WORK!

Beautiful work FG. Got more comming?

YOU BET! Thanks…I got every color in the rainbow thanks to Greg.
I think I will make a Crayola Crayon collection:D

Short of Greg supplying all of us, or dying your own, does anyone know of a source for the blue biots?

Betty, I looked all over and couldn’t find ANY. I found Turkey feathers in Blue at Michaels, but the single Biot is too thin…long but thin
And Gregs are a beautiful BLUE like a Cobalt or Royal blue.

Very very nice.

Joni,

Those are fantastic looking flies! Thanks for sharing. Your tying skills are incredible.

WOW! Thank you…AGAIN!

FlyGoddess,

Is that an epoxy coating over the biot? If so does it require turning to prevent the epoxy from sagging?

By the way, that is a very cool looking fly. Nice work!

Tyrone, it is Sally Hansen’s Hard As Nails…several coats and YES I have a wheel.

Fly Goddess

Looks as if you mastered that pretty well. Well done. Just to let you know they are pretty deadly as well and take a lot of fish in the UK.

I dyed up some blue biots today. I’ve got enough for about 4 people to have a decent amount. If you’d like some, the first four to pm me with their address will get them. Hope they work for you.

I’ve got enough for 2 more people. Let me know via pm.
