I got to meet Dennis a couple of years ago. I was giving directions to a couple from India to little hole below Dutch John when he came by and introduced himself. An amazing guy and a very personable, friendly man.

He will be missed.

Holy crap, I can’t believe this!!! First I had heard of it (I usually go up there 2-3 times a year). Dennis was a great guy. His shop is the best one up there. He will be missed! Thanks for the link.

I first met and floated with Denny in the mid 90’s. The last time I floated with him and his staff was in September 2008.
Clearly the best guide service with knowledge and experience of the Green. There was no fly shop or any other kind of facility in the early days. He operated it with Grace, his wife, from home and met you in the mornings in Dutch John.
This is a huge loss!

I just hope someone else there in DJ steps up to fill Denny’s shoes, esp. wrt attending the Bureau of (W)rec meetings in Provo to represent the interests of the fishermen and women on the river. Maybe Emmett Heath will? Denny’s title as “Dean Of The Green” was well earned. I will be keeping tabs on how this affects the area. So sad. My thoughts are with the community, and esp. his wife Grace.

Also, here are a couple of other links about the accident:
