Well, thanks to everyones help I finally slid the real seat off and lo and behold…ALL THE SPLINES WERE SEPERATING starting at the butt end, and continuing like 3 inches up!!!
What in the world do I do?
Delaminations can be fixed faily easily, try this thread

You’d mentioned in the previous post that you had not planned on keeping the old reel seat. Now that you’ve got it off (in one piece?), are you planning on re-using it or getting rid of it still?
If you’re gittin’ rid of it, I know a certain FFer who fishes on wednesdays that could use it…

I would have gladly hooked you up with the reel seat, However, prior to seeing your post, in a bout of frustration and as per other advise I received, I tried removing the reel seat with a hacksaw. Although ultimately unsuccessful, it did serve to destroy the reel seat. All I have is the sliding band and the but cap. Its yours if you want it, just PM me.

It sounded to good to be true. I understand the frustration and understand fully your approach. I’ve done similar to other reel seats. I will pass on the butt cap and ring though. Thanks for your response.
