Check out the $2500 ‘duck press’…
I have always thought the Orvis product was somewhat overpriced. However, this catalog and the $3.00 balloon indicators have convinced me that they are trying to appeal to a client base that has significantly more money and less sense than I do.
I’m going to do a lot of comparison shopping before I purchase an Orvis product in the future, the products and prices in that catalog are obscene. At least to this working man.
I think I will buy one of each! (and if you believe that, I got some property with your name all over it  )
BBWulff;
I didn’t see it, in Orvis’s wish book, but why not round out your list with the new Able “Steelhead Reel”, (w/the steelhead color pattern etched onto the side plate), for a hair over $1050.00? Everyone can always use another reel!?!
I must admit I use an Orvis Streamline rod(Sierra Trading post for $29.00) and it is an awesome rod!
Look What I Found!!
Rooster Squeak Toy for my Dog (if I had one) $12.00 bucks!
Wooly Chew Bone $19.00 bucks! (Gigantic!)
Loopies Dog Toys $19.00 (for you Loopy guys)
Those were just Stocking Stuffers!
Here’s the Main Event!
Arrieta Uplander Bi-Gauge Over-Under 20/28 Gauge… $4,950.00!!! (Case Included)
Special Limited Edition Bamboo Flea Fly Rod and Edward Vom Hofe Perfection # 1 Reel… $8,500.00!!
No Payments until 2009?? Don’t think SOOO!!!
Doug
Doug!!
HOW…on earth can you pass up the Arrieta for a mere-$4,950.00?? I mean, come ON!!.. they ARE throwing in a FREE case, with it!?!
And, the Flea Rod with the Von Hofe? You’ll be SORRRRYYY, when the next flea hatch comes off and you’re left standing around without the “right” gear!?!
when the next flea hatch comes off and you’re left standing around without the “right” gear!?!

Not sticking up for Orvis, but you guys must be awful bored. The humane society is about to raid this place. The horse is beaten beyond belief.
the Capt.
Summer is OVER!, It’s DARK & RAINING, and YES! I’m BORED! But that’s not a bad thing! Capt., Your right! we might be bored, but were not beating on Orvis. They are a fine Company.
Doug
I don’t imagine a VON HOFE would be worth much…but a VOM HOFFE on the other hand…I would kill for an original in NEW shape.
I can tell you “IF” I paid that much for a Shotgun, NO SHELL would explode in it’s barrel, EVER!
It would either hang on the wall to impress friends or STAY in the “bonus” Case.

I remember the good old days when the catalogs that came out this time of year were called Christmas Catalogs. What a shame…
I just had to drag this up once again.
Today I got my Guitar Center custom catalog for Christmas.
I can get a custom shop Stevie Ray Vaughn SRV Lenny Stratocaster from Fender for only $17,000 and a Fender '64 Vibroverb Custom for $2500.
For you Gibson fans, there is a custom Les Paul in Oxblood for only $3300.
Now for the guy who said Orvis makes their collectables- how 'bout this. A Martin acoustic guitar- hand built of coarse- it’s the "History of Flight model. You can get one for only $130,000.00. BTW it’s a limited edition. The Martin Hot Rod Race model is $100,000.00, and the cheapy model the D100 Deluxe can be had for $87,999,99. Why they just didn’t make it $88,000.00 is beyond me.
They are nice, but it’s all relative.
So all in all, Orvis ain’t so 'spensive Lucy!

I got that catalog in the mail the other day too. I love Eddie Van Halen’s Frankenstein for $25,000 (replica). I told my son I was going to buy him the $130,000 guitar ~~ and then I said “not”.
Swiss Army Knife, only $1200 bucks! http://www.katu.com/news/national/11737476.html
