Gorilla glue

The flet sole on my hip boots is coming off. Has anybody used this stuff to reglue felt?

I haven’t tried it but it I don’t think it will work. That question has been asked on Gorilla Forum and it hasn’t given me any reason to believe that you can use it. http://www.gorillaglue.com/ToughTeam/ToughTeamForum/tabid/151/forumid/3/postid/283/scope/posts/Default.aspx

Your absolute best bet is to go to a shoe repair place and have them glue it back on. That said…have a look at this link:

You’ll need to clean off the area you are gluing even if you don’t plan to replace the whole felt.

will barge cement work?

Probably! 8)

Barge cement is way to go.

I’ve used Gorilla Glue on several pairs of boots with excellent success. My last pair was Orvis and I’m into my 2nd year with the Gorilla Glue repairs. BTW, my boot repair shop told me it wouldnt work. Anyhow…workes great for me.

I think Gorilla glue dries hard & won’t make a flexible joint. I’ve used " Shoe Goop" & it worked for the life of the replaced soles. Then the heel lining on the inside of the boots was worn thru & I replaced the boots instead of replacing the felts again. They just don’t last forever…

if you use the clear gorilla glue it dries flexable and it holds soles on workboots just fine…

I thought Gorrilla glue would not work but some people have had success as reported on this post and the post below, where Dave asked the same question. So if you have it, try it.

I’ve used barge cement to repair my wading boots and barge cement is what Weinbrenner Shoe Company uses to repair wading boots that have been sent in. Barge cement is flexible and water proof.

Dave, i was under the impression that your wife used gorilla glue to attach your wedding ring. it’s working there, no?

Dave

Yes it works quite well. So does the .38 Chief’s Special she carries in her purse! For some reason that ring is always on my finger.

I recently purchased some Gorilla and notice that the directions say add some water to the area…is that really necessary?

Just did this repair on my William Joseph boots. Shoe goo made a great repair and when mixed with the right solvent makes a great rubber head cement for my fly tying. :stuck_out_tongue:

Contact cement always worked for me but use it outdoors or with proper ventilation indoors

Several weeks ago I replaced the felt soles on mine with DAP Weldwood contact cement…been using that can for years…I only bring it up to point out other contact cements will work that are not Barge and they are easier to find.

Yes, Water activates the glue and makes it expand. Use too much glue and it will overflow the edges of the joint seam.

I used gorilla Glue to resole some felts and it worked just fine.

Used Gorilla Glue to replace soles on dirt bike boots 3 years ago and the soles are still intact. They get a LOT more abuse than any wading boot will ever think about.
The get wet constantly. They get forces put on them that are extreme.

I don’t know if Gorilla Glue will work on your boots, but it makes killer flies.

I use rubber cement on my boots.

Wulff, I sent you an IM.

Some odd questions. If you wish to post them here that’s fine too.

Jeremy.
