We had to say goodbye to my faithful and loyal companion of the last eight years. As most of you know, she was by our side danged near 24/7. She rested her head on my foot, at home, as she left.
Good girl Dinah. Go ni-ni. Wait by the bridge.
Lee s,
Sorry for your loss. We have buried many a companion on a hill of our property, facing east per tradition; so, they can see the sun rise over the “Peaks of Otter.”
I’m so sorry. We had to do the same thing a year and a half ago. She was a beauty.
I’m so sorry . I hold it as one of lifes greatest tragedys that a dogs lifespan does not equal ours.
I have five dogs and cannot bear the thought of losing any one of them. I am glad she was there beside you when she left.
sorry for your loss. cant imagine what it would be like without my two dogs
Dear Lee,
I’m so sorry for your loss. Take comfort in the time you were able to share with Dinah, I’m sure she enjoyed it immensely.
Best Wishes,
Avalon
Hey Lee,
I’m fully aware there are no words that make the loss any easier, just know were hear to support you.
I recently shared with everyone here the loss of Mandy, my faithful hunting companion of almost 15 years. It hurt like no tomorrow, and probably will for awhile.
I didn’t bird hunt this year because it was just to painful to think about being in the field without her. That was our special time!
There must be a spot in our lives reserved just for a dogs love and companionship.
I know Mandy is waiting for me to join her on a great hunt, and I’m just as sure Dinah is patiently waiting by the bridge for you.
Terry
Lee,
We share your loss and please draw from that.
I’m sure Dinah never had an unhappy day when she was with you.
There will be a void…I hope someday you can fill it.
Phil
Had to put my black lab (Molly) down last year and so I very well know what that’s all about. Can you believe she lived to be 16 years old? Sure enough, she had really been slipping in her last year but had there been a way to keep her going I would have done it, inspite of what was the proper thing to do. I so much wanted her to pass while she was asleep on the front porch but that was just not to be.
Letting go of an old and faithful friend is a hard thing to do.
Dale
Lee S.,
I am so very sorry. It’s never easy to let them go.
it is never ez. They give us such joy. WHenever I bury a dog I plant a tree. It is a neat memorial.Take care.
Paul
Lee,
So sorry for your loss. Each time I read of things like this, I look at my old 13 year old shepherd/chow Cocoa & thank God I still have her. Best friends we’ll ever have! Either “Co” or “Dog” have been all our grandkids 1st words.
Gardenfish…That’s a GREAT idea! Thanks.
Mike
Lee,
You have my sincere regrets.
“She rested her head on my foot, at home, as she left.”…That was a toughie!
And this is a really cool picture.
Jeremy.
Very sorry for your loss. We have to face the death of a dog every decade and our hearts just break when it happens. Someday I’ll probably get to the point where like Granddad, I won’t be able to take it any more.----John
