This was tied with orange ice dub under neath it, but now i’ve been tying it with orange, then using a marker to blacken the top, to give that good color that goldenstones really have

better pic of the shellback
Brent,
Very nice flys. What part of the country are you in? Those would work well in my “neck of the woods”, for sure. Thanks for sharing and Best Regards…
I’m from Calgary, they’ll be great (well, hopefully…i might have cursed myself the first time i fished one and slammed a big whitefish, instead of a big brown or rainbow) for before, during, and after runoff
Gotta tie enough, so i can fish them from may through till mid july.
I’ll get some tungsten beads today, see how they look
Not the curse of the WHITEFISH ?! Oh no - that fly is forever doomed on your local waters.
So since nothing in all of Alberta is gonna take that thing ever again, even when expertly fished by the recently nominated Poster Child of Winter Fly Fishing, you might as well send all that you have down here to Idaho so they get a real test on real fish ?!
Looks like it could bite you. Forget sending the flies to Idaho…Some fish here in Newfoundland have said they’d like to meet them. I can send my address when you’re reasdy :O)
Nice flies! You COULD go back to the original ones and mark them on the back too, BUT stoneflies molt 21 times before they hatch (almost once a month) and are a creamier colour just after molting. So with either version maybe you should mark only 1/2 of them and see what works best. One of my best brown trout was caught on a pale yellow stonefly nymph.
Very well done flies…They’d pass very well during the salmonfly action we have here in the spring. I guess I’ll have to try my hand with a few…Tough act to follow, though. Thanks for showin’ 'em to us…ModocDan
All you gotta do to get a FOTW is take pics of each step, put together a little dialog about each step and send it all to publisher@flyanglersonline.com From there JC and LF will take over and make sure everything runs smoothly. Might be a bit before it shows up, what with LF’s recent surgery and all, but it’ll get in there!
