Going to Alsaka. Need advice!

Hey! Next May my wife and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniverary. (For the life of me I can’t figure out how she put up with me that long!)

At any rate we are celebrating our 25th with a trip to Alaska. Thinking cruise but not sure. We both agree that cruising the inside passage would be awsome but not sure if when we get done if we will feel like we’ve REALLY been to Alaska. Therefore, considering some land excursions at the various ports of call.

She agrees (MAN SHE’S GREAT) that a trip to Alsaka should include a day of fishing. I don’t know where to start. Anyone have any advice on a 1 day fishing trip?

Should I concentrate on one area or another? Guides I should contact? Should we consider flying in and doing a rail or land trip instead of cruise ship? Etc., etc., etc.?

How do I get started? Any insight would be great!!! Thanks.

You should post your ports of call first.

There are two types of trips thru the intercoastal waterway to Alaska one only on the boat at all times and the other going to Skagway leaving the ship and rail travel north to Anchorage. Then flying back to the states.

The all boat trip is in port only for a few hours sightseeing and your on your way again-not enough time for a day fishing trip.

You might be able to arrange to stay over at Skagway and take a later train. A lay over in Anchorage before your flight back to the states would give you more time to fish.
