Goin' Up The St. Joe

I’m taking my neighbor up the St. Joe of North Idaho this weekend. I did so well last year at this time, I can hardly wait to try it again. My neighbor (Sean) has fished rivers before, but it’s been a long time since he’s held a fly rod in his hands. We got our licenses today at Cabela’s, and tomorrow I’ll pick up lunch at Fred Meyer. We’ll be having Johnsonville Brats on a bun with Sauer Kraut and dejon mustard. Some Sun Chips and sodas. The digital camera will be there also, and if everything goes the way I expect, there will be pics to peruse. The autumn foliage should be as colorful as ever, and if really lucky, the fish should be very hungry. We’ll start with Calf Wing Royal Coachmen, then Renegades, then BWO’s and PMD’s. I’m leaving the dynamite at home this trip.
I wish you could all be there. I think this one’s going to be fun. I’ll let you know.

Joe,

Hopefully this storm that’s headed our way will not get to you when your on the river. We’re looking at high winds and heavy rain. That usually means power outages here.

Let us know how you do and when you get home please. Have a blast for those of us getting ready for flooding rivers again.

Hold on tight Ron. I’ll be thinking about you guys.

Wish I were there. The St.Joe has either been blown out or way too hot the times we were there. This time of year should be soooo perfect. Have you tried tying your Renegades with Ice Dub instead of peacock? And a little red ice dub egg sack?

Good idea on the Renegades. It rained all day today. I hope the river hasn’t turned to mud. We’ll see tomorrow.

Joe,

Remeber my friend, watch for the rise and time it right! have a great trip!
