Glass - Then and Now

Great idea Ron,
I would put Fenwick on the list and let them know I was interested in a fiberglass Spey or Switch rod configuration.
Thanks for the thought,

You mean since you got him to post publicly what you PM’ed to me the day I started this thread?

I suppose that it looks a tad familiar.

No, no, no!! He’s a member in good standing here, and I REALLY didn’t talk to him about this post! He did that all on his own!!:stuck_out_tongue: I believe great minds think alike!!
Check your PM’s.

Thanks Y’all, there’s a ton of info here. The main reason that I want a glass rod is to have a rod that won’t shatter if I hit it with a beadhead. My old glass rod was tough that way, but it is in rough shape. The guides are worn to to being as smooth as sandpaper (a bit rough on the line) and the handle is all but gone. It was a cheapo from the Days of Yore, but it still inspires memories, as articles surviving from the Days of Yore often do. I want a new rod that is tough enough to go out and do what the old one did, well, I’d be happy to omit that size 12 Royal Coachman into the moustache incident…

I tried to PM you but your box is full and would not except it. Please PM me.

After you get your new rod, think about rebuilding the old one. New guides, cork, reel seat and finish? It’s not that hard to do. And it could be fun.

Quit fussin’ around and get a Phillipson. Not fast, but really fine.
