Cool fly; love the Hi-Tie wing.

hook - TMC 5623 #4
underbody - non-tox .030
thread - UTC 140 tan
tail/wing - coyote tail
body - chenille olive
collar/head - mule deer spun/clipped

Part 1

cover shank from point to 2/3 mark with non-tox, brush on a little Super Glue; start thread and wrap to bend

clean, even tips, measure (2/3 shank) a clump of coyote; tie in/trim butts

tie in chenille, wrap to 1/3 mark; tie down but don’t trim

clean, even tips, measure (even with tail) another clump; tie in/trim

wrap chenille forward, tie off/don’t trim; leave a little room at the front for wing #2

Part 2

one more time with the wing

finish off the body

clean, stack, measure (tips to point) a clump of deer hair; tie in with 2 soft loops, spin, pack

trim tips of another clump, repeat

room for one more; half hitch x 2, SHHAN

Part 3

flip fly over, set razor blade on hook eye and push straight back

taking shape

all done

I’ve seen Garfield’s sirloin for use in the Adirondack’s Ausable river tied with gray rabbit fur.

That would be cool; I bet if Fran Betters tied one, he’d have used orange Aussie possum, too.
