Fused line loop

Anybody tried this. This is not a hot link so you will have to cut and paste.

Really looks sharp and smooth. I wonder about strength. When I get a chance, I’ll make some and try.

OOPS, the site converted it to a hot link. No me I promise.

Amazing. How could he figure that out. It looks a laser machine of some sort did it, and he used a cigarette lighter.

I’ve been doing it for about a year. So far; just as good as factory.

I talked about it in these threads:

Nice link, thanks for passing along a piece of useful info.

A little bit of off topic, but the same exact technique can be done to repair a line that you placed between a rock and your studded wadding boots or any other reason that you damaged your fly line with a cut. I have a few places on a 5 wt line that need some work done to them.

Bobinmich …
This is funny.
I posted the same link in Fly Anglers Online in Fly Tyers Thread Loop on 03/02/2008 under DIY Welded Loops and nobody blinked an eye.
I was amazed that nobody had commented on the link.
DickM.

Dick, it has happened to me too. I posted a nice YouTube link to a common casting problem on one board titled “creep and jab”, it was about tailing loops and the why and the fix for a common problem. No one commented. Same day on a different board someone posted the same link and there were numerous responses. Some times, I think it is just timing.

Rick

this welded loop sure is getting aalot of air time out on numerous boards.

it’ll die down and sometime next year it will be back again. :D:D

theres even a movie on how to do it!! popcorn please!!
