I was talking to George Kesel at Kesel’s Fly Shop in Missoula this morning about materials for an FEB Skwala pattern when he mentioned and then brought off the shelf a copy of Ken Hanley’s book on the subject of furled body flies.
Just thumbed through the book, but it looks like Hanley did a bang up job on everything from discussion of techniques, different materials, and some interesting patterns. The pics and the tying sequence instructions were well done.

If you are thinking about tying flies with furled bodies, it would be well to check this one out to see if it suits your interests and style of learning.

P.S. I am not familiar with the site identified in the link. I just picked it for its description of the book, not as a recommendation regarding this particular vendor.
P.S.1 I am familiar with George Kesel and his shop. If you are in Missoula, do yourself a favor and stop in there.
