There are times when the fish seem to prefer a nice, fat, full-bodied, leech pattern, especially when they are fattening up during the pre-spawn. I tie these on size 6 or 8 hooks either with bead heads or as in this case on 1/16th oz jig heads which work equally well on my fly rod or my UL spinning outfit. I call them fur leeches since that is the only material used. These are tied with fur from an old fur collar that I picked up at a yard sale for a couple of bucks. It looks like very dark Australian Possum fur, but it is not dyed. I use a bit of fur for the tail and dubbing brushes from the same fur that I make with very fine copper wire which makes these guys almost indestructible. I made a more robust dubbing pick to pick the fur out making them nice a fluffy.
Very tasty looking flies.

Thank you Scott. I always enjoy seeing the patterns you post here. Your skills are amazing. I tend to tie simple flies that catch warmwater fish for me here in Central Florida. Take care and please keep posting your amazing work for us to enjoy and strive for.
