Frog-Water

Somebody take Parn’s banjo away from him. Where I live, frog water refers to the long, slow pools (a couple of em half a mile long or more) in the local river. But I figured out what it meant here, so anybody can!

Jetskis are open year round here . But you have to have a tag for each one You retain.
There is no size or limit on how many you can catch , but spawning season from Sept 11 to Dec 11 requires a special permit for this time period .
Summation of the New regulations for the upcomming 2005 season :

  1. To preserve dwindling stocks this it is now illegal to use camoflaged ice holes . For the capture of Jetskis
  2. There is no fishing within 23m (100ft) below the lower entrance to any fishway , canal , or leap
  3. No fishing within 23m (100ft) of any dock , pier , or breakwater where a shorebased operator is dispensing gasoline for profit.
  4. No exceeding the annual limit of 7,000 machines .
  5. The use of dynamite is discouraged although not strictly illegal.

when i think of “frog water” i think of bass. but, wait! there’s a ‘warm water’ forum too? i am confused!

One of the main reasons that the Frog-water (keep the name) forum is “underused” right now is that it’s not fishing season at most lakes yet. Wait until the weather warms up a bit and the lakes turn … then you will see the Frog-water forum get more use.

Not to be repetative but, not all warmwater fishing is done in stillwater; not all stillwater fishing is done in warmwater. With the volume of international members here on FAOL there will be some amount of overlap. Although it has loads of information, the warmwater forum serves little purpose for this Canadian trout fisher.

Sheties,
Me thinks you make my point…you just discussed Warm-water and Still-water and didn’t say what kind of fishing is done in Frog-water.

Aren’t these semantic games fun…

Umm, sorry but I find the description of the forum that is provided directly below the forum’s name to be more than adequate for identifying the topics covered by that forum.

The vast majority of the fishing I do is on stillwater lakes with healthy frog populations. But that is neither here nor there. I find the name Frog-water to be a light hearted name not an insulting or derogatory one, and would like to see it stay.

I love the more poetic “frog water” term because for me “still water” carries a connotation of “dead” water. Frankly I don’t frequent that particular board much because I’m more of a dedicated warmwater fisher. For some odd pecularity, though, I fell into swaps this year so I hit that one frequently, followed by the tying, rod building and this general one. If I were limited to just one, though, I’d choose warmwater over 'em all. Oh, Parnelli, thanks for the lyrics. What fun! JGW
