Ok...this is my first crack at making a YouTube video. The local shop that I built a web site for, asked me to make if for them. It's of the late Fran Better, tying the Ausable Wulff. It's a nice piece of fly tying history. I hope you enjoy it. (Please, click "Like" if you do!!) Sorry it's not HD but this was from an old video a friend made years ago.
Very nice. Thank you. I clicked Like.

Mato,
As a Fran fan from the late 70s, and particularly a fan of the Ausable Wulff, I gave it 2 thumbs up! This fly was very effective on the waters I fished in the U.P. of Michigan as well as the waters of Upstate New York. Thanks for the thread and the video. I don’t think enough people are fully aware of Fran Betters contributions to fly designs. IMHO - he was ahead of his time!
Best regards, Dave S.
Thanks for sharing! How about that vise? Shows he still had that old vise and nothing fancy.
I love that no nonsense, straight forward, workman like approch to tieing! But why “Whiskey in the Jar” for the music. One “Ben Ladin” (two shots and a splash) and I can’ t even hold a bobbin…!
Fran was a way cool dude and was so innovative it pains me to accept his passing, even now. Thanks for posting this. FWIW I met Fran many years ago as a college kid when I took my first flyfishing adventure into the 'Dacks.
Nicely presented Mato, History is so important and you captured a piece of it for all of us. ![]()
