Fox Henwing Bomber SBS

A co-creation of Michigan tyers Don Fox and Jay Neve. A few minor changes to the original - tied in on a 2xl hook, swapped out the mink tail for moose body and added a rib to the body hackle for a little more durability. This one?s going to want to twist the leader so I?ll fish it on 3x.

hook - TMC 5212 #10
thread - Danville 6/0 pale yellow
tail- moose body hair
rib - x-small wire gold
rear hackle - grizzly (undersize by 2)
body - dubbing dirty yellow
wing - grizzly hen hackle tips
front hackle - grizzly/brown

Part 1

Mash barb, start thread, wrap to bend

Clean, stack, measure (hook length) some moose body hairs; tie in/trim, wrap to 3/4 mark

Prepare a pair of hen tips, measure (shank length); tie in(convex to convex)/trim, take a few wraps in front to help set angle

Tie in rib, wrap to bend

Dub thread/dub body to 2/3 mark

Part 2

Tie in body hackle; wrap to bend

Capture tip with wire, continue ribbing thru hackle to tie-in; helicopter end/cover with thread, trim hackle tip

Set wing angle with Figure-8 wraps

Tie in hackles

Wrap hackles, tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN
