FOTW instructions?

It struck me, that maybe we ought to have a set of instructions as a sticky at the top of this forum on how to submit a fly of the week entry. We might have more people willing to submit the flies they tie.

What do you guys think?

I second that!

I am not the creative tyer, but I am looking to “think up” a new pattern:idea:

Along the lines that Don mentioned…

What qualifies as a pattern to be submitted??? Anything that isn’t in the archives???

Scott

I second the motion.

Respectfully,
Sean

Go for it. Sounds like a great idea!

Dr Bob

No arguement from me! 8T

Basically take the pictures to show how the fly is tied.
then write all the stuff up and sent in to LF.
Look at how the FOTW have been done.

Rick

I really don’t mean to disagree . . . However are the FOTW’s and archives, not examples already?

I think the guys were refering to the steps taken to submit the information for FOTW. I could be wrong though. I don’t think so, but VEE tells me it happens more than I realize.

The only requirements for a fly to become a FOTW is for the tyer to take the step-by-step pictures of the tying steps and send them as an attachment to an e-mail to www.publisher@flyanglersonline.com. The step-by-step pictures plus the instructions for each is all that is needed. I am not a very good fly tyer and I have a couple FOTW flies here. Just take the best close-up pictures that you can and describe the fly tying techiques and it is always nice for a brief story on why you tied it or how you became familiar with the fly that you submitted. Right now Deanna is healing from surgery and it may be awhile before she can post another FOTW, but, she always appreciates people submitting flies for FOTW. If there are problems with the pictures or anything else, she will e-mail you back explaining the problem and work with you to get it straightened out. Go for it!

If any of the above is not correct, please correct me. God knows my wife does!

[b]That is exactly what I am shooting for…

We wanna know how to construct a FOTW tutorial and submit it! What all needs to be done? Ant pre-reqs?

Thanks

Sent my email today, with the step by step

Hope it gets on there

That is the idea that I was trying to get across. That there should be a sticky post describing what it takes to submit a new FOTW.

It seems that every time it is suggested that someone submit a FOTW they want to know the process and requirements. If there were a sticky with those on this forum, we might see more submissions.

I love seeing all of your flies. I wish that all of you that tie up local flies or new flies or different flies or even just for fun flies would submit them as a FOTW.

please read post #1 regarding step-by-step instructions. maybe it will help

if you dont want to put your fotos in a word document just email them along with the document. just make sure you rename the foto to correspond to the step number in the document so when someone reassembles your step-by-step it all matches.
