TU aired a show on Saturday morning on the Outdoor Channel about fishing Pine Creek at Slate Run and a little bit of Slate Run too. I believe they were also on Little Pine for a bit. Figured you guys would be interested in seeing it if it’s on again. The show is called “On the Rise.”
Thanks Slate drake 9. What time was it aired? Many times they air those shows several times. Ron

The Outdoor Channel’s website doesn’t even list it (at least as far as I could tell). This week’s show is from Jersey. Several year’s ago, they did a show from my home stream (Little Lehigh), and my fishing buddy was their guide for the day. Nice folks, good fishermen.
I’m thinking anything that puts Pine and “On the Rise” in the same sentence is a good thing.![]()
Thanks for the heads up - I’ll try to get a copy to show at the Fish-In.
i watched that show. it was great…made me want to try fishing there!
Come join us - we’ll leave a light on for ya.
For a further tie-in to the Fish in, Frank parked the airstream at Happy Acres Campground.
I had the wife watch the episode and now she is thinking we may want to take our camper to Happy Acres for a weekend, now i just have to convince her that the last weekend in May is when we should go ![]()
I beleive that the host of the show was fishing with Dave Rothrock. And by the way, there are no fish in Northern PA…or all of PA for that matter! ![]()

nor any water, nor any public access, and the best guides are all booked until 2012…
Dave is a friend of mine - he’s one heck of a fisherman, that’s for sure. He’s talked about coming to the Fish-In in the past. I’ll see him in a couple of weeks - maybe I can talk him into paying us a visit one night.
Check out some of his work:
Dave is a pretty good guy. Some friends and I had him do an “advanced” casting class for us. We learned some tricks and had an overall fun time with him.
I have to say, I am concerned that some of my home waters on being publicized on a national TV show. On many days these waters are already crowded, now I’m sure even more people will show up because of this show.
So it goes, I guess.
It probably won’t have any more effect than a 15 page thread with 149 replies and 3,714 views on an INTERNATIONAL website.

The streams we mention here are hardly a secret. If you can read about them here, you can find a thousand times more information via Google. (You’ll notice we never mention the smaller, lesser known streams.)
Life is too short to waste time being paranoid. That TV show won’t have much effect on the pressure up there - most people are just unwilling to put in the time necessary to really learn the area.
Maybe we should all just cower in our homes, never share anything with another fisherman, and only speak in whispers to our closest friends. If you’re here reading this, and participating on this forum, you’re making a statement that is the opposite of that logic.
HA:
Pssst…
I hope you realize I was kidding, hence the “winky” at the bottom.
I was trying to allay any fears Slate may have that some how that TV program would have any more or less effect than the Internet, common fishing knowledge, books, magazines, Gatzetteers, videos or fish tales told by a campfire.
Hi All,
New to the website and am looking for more info on the PA Fish In.
