the guides are on… some wraps and some tape… atatched reel just to get an idea of how the finnished rod is gonna look… in the next day or 3 all the wraps will be done and trimmed with blue then all that will be left is to varnish the rod…

the reel dont go to this rod, it goes to my kingfisher… trying to find a reel for this rod that is about 3" diameter or just a tad smaller… i just put the reel on here to give me an idea of what the finnished rod might look like…
Oh, ok…well you might look for a Lamson Lite #1. Pretty diminutive I’d say.

all the guides have been wraped with the the brown thread wrap… and trimed with metalic blue… also the colour guard has been applied… next thing on the to-do list is applying the flexcoat then varnish… heres a picture of 1 of the wraps… noticed a tiny gap between the brown wraps & the blue trim wrap so ill have to redo this one…

That rod is almost as beautiful as the reason you are building it. I am very impressed. There is definately one lucky little lady in your class! Her rod will be admired by everyone fishing near her for years to come! You truely embody the spirit of fishing…

only 3 more days till she gits the rod… my tying class students will be giving the rod & taking pictures… ive been wanting to go fer a while on a fishing trip & am in montanna southeastern on the way to cannada fer some salmon fishing… got an offer i couldnt refuse & probly never get a chance fer this trip again so couldnt pass it up… wont be back to kilgore till after the first of the year… ill upload pictures soon as i can so i can wrap this post up…

finally had a few minutes to upload more pictures from email… by the way, i did decide to add a simple jungle cock inlay to the rod just above the grip before i finnished the rod using 2 sizes of jungle cock, 3 short & 3 long ones alternating around the rod… the rod was done with metalic blue trim at the medium brown wraps ends, chrome line guides and 3 coats of gudebrod varnish…as soon as me friend emails pictures of Emily getting the rod fer christmass ill upload those… caint wait to see them meself… heres a picture of the finnished rod…

well, got pictures emailed to me yesterdy of emily getting the rod… turned out black… emailed john about it, he fergot to take the cover off the darn linse ! i was sure dissapointed but gonna see can i get a picture when i get home… emily called & said she went fishin with john at fairfield & cought some breams… i was glad to hear from her and that she is getting to fish the rod…
