fly pictures

If you really want to see the flaws in your tying you have to really blow up the picture. I put one of mine on a fifty inch T.V. screen once when I was trying to figure how to show pictures on the big screen. I thought it was pretty well tied until then

I like props… Then you might not notice the flaws LOL

…oops. No. It’s a spinner.

Do you have a scanner?

If you do you can use it to make some very good images of flies. Make a sort of square doughnut of foam, for small flies about an inch thick. Make a hole for a probe clip in one side to the centre. Then put it on the platen of your scanner, drop a piece of coloured card or foam as a background on top, then scan.

You can get some good results that way.

I’d be using the Styrofoam cup method myself, but with my camera I can’t get one to fit! At the moment I’m using a daylight lamp over with a white card reflector below. What I am struggling with is getting a good black background and avoiding the glare that it shows up.

Solving all these problems is easy if you can throw $$$ at them. Not so easy if fly photography wasn’t a priority for you when you bought your equipment.

Cheers,
A.

I know this is hijacking, but… Fly Goddess, that moth is out-of-this-world! More info please!

The easiest solution is to go to Bing or Google or straight to Amazon and put in “photo studio in a box”.
For about $50 you can get the whole set up (except for the camera).
