Fly of the Week

For the last several days I have been looking through the listings of the Flies of the Week in FAOL. There is a heck of a lot of great patterns in there that could be resurrected.

One such fly that caught my attention was the Orange Shellback tied by Robert Holder and posted in the 3d quarter of 2003. I tied some of them and I must say it is one of the most buggy patterns I have seen in a while. Robert 's instructions called for a body of dubbing or chenille but I used Ostrich herl which makes a real buggy looking critter.

I do believe this fly is a real winner for both trout and warmwater species.

Also Robert’s pictures are better than mine.

Yes sir… I reckon a bluegill will eat that! Nice tie.

If anyone wants one of the FAOL Fly Pattern for their home computer, I have them available to download. They are in PDF format, requires Adobe Reader for veiwing…

Just email me with your requests…
