Fly Line in the mailbox...

Well…it was pretty hot today and I just got a replacement line for the one I had used once and got really twisted. When I took it out of the box the package was warm…I am thinking this is a bad thing. Tell me my brand new line is NOT ruined!?!

“GET THE DRIFT?”

Only one way to find out, eh?

Line is a Rio Grand if that helps…also how will I know?

“GET THE DRIFT?”

You sure…it was in there for a while prolly…didn’t get the mail outta the box till 7:30 pm. I hope so…hate to have another problem with it!

“GET THE DRIFT?”

Mike,

Just use it and if you think there’s a problem, deal with it and then contact the company. Stop worrying about something that probably isn’t there.

Allan

Send it to me, I’ll test it for ya.

LOL…JC…I am sure it is fine…was over reacting I guess. yes I cast in the dark fine…haven’t spooled it up yet though.

“GET THE DRIFT?”

Mike…
Let’s see…you certainly wouldn’t FISH flyline in warm weather or direct sunlight, would you? By golly, I’ll bet it’s “ice fishing” flyline…expose to no temperature over 31 degrees! Seriously, I’m sure the line has been stored in warehouses that are warmer than your mailbox…and for longer periods of time. It’ll be fine.
Mike

Ohiotuber you beat me again!!
Plastics have a molded/extruded in memory and will return to their Molded/extruded form. Semi trailers in the summer can reach an interior heat of over 150 degrees. Most plastics use a CLTE of 72 degrees for dimensioning… Forget the tech, B.S you should be ok!! As long as it did not reach the VMP! Then you’d have a puddle of goo!

I feel more like I do now than I did when I got here!

Flymaker2;
You got it right. I once spent an 1/2 hour explaining CLTE to a customers question of "WHY!!. (he was having problems in various climate conditions) at the end of the presentation he asked “WHY?”!! To him It was Tech. B…l S…!! Just fix it! Most people do not understand “Plastic”. I think you do more than I from your response. And your profile!!

Jack,

You ever try to explain that glass is actually plastic? Or is it a VERY viscous liquid? I forget now.

Actually in lay terms glass is sand.
