Fly in the Box, newbie question, where to get 'em?

New to all of this. A response to one question is to start with simple patterns from ‘Fly in the Box’ kit. Sounds great, but where do find Fly in the Box kits. Did a google and got some very strange stuff, but noting remotely about fishing.

Help, PLEASE!

Hi Mark,

I know of a shop here in Boston that has some of those.
I can check to see which one’s they have and let you know.

Rich

They are actually called “tie a fly” here is the link to the manufacturer: www.tie-a-fly.com
Google tie a fly and you should find some good sources.
Let me know if you find them cheap anywhere. I am looking for a few myself

EXACTLY what I was looking for, and they have a pattern, Olive Wooly Bugger, that I want.

THANKS!!!

That is one good idea. Another is to buy a kit with a vise, tools, materials and an instruction book. Cabela’s sells them as do other places.

Mark,

Here is another source for the “Tie-A-Fly” kit:

Tim’s Flies & Lies fly shop
Lynchburg, Tennessee

www.cafes.net/timpage/

Shop Phone: 931-759-5058

I think he has these kits for around $14.95

Hope this helps

FYI, Rainy’s also has a similar product caled “Bug-in-a-Box”

Joe, that looks great, would love the dragon fly’s for bass. How do you order?

Mark, I know BassPro carries some of Rainy’s products, don’t know about that one.

There is a Rainy’s dealer in Lubbock, again don’t know what they carry. Check the dealer page to find if one is close:

You can also call and ask, number is on the site.

Hey Mark,

Here’s another source for the kits you are looking for. Aside from the “standard” patterns, the additional patterns available are very unique.

These guys provide only the highest quality hooks and materials, along with a hand tied fly in a box so you can see what the finished fly should look like.

No, I don’t sell for them, but they are vendors at a show I do each year in Cleveland, and they are also longtime students and friends of Chris Helm, noted deer hair guru from Toledo, Ohio. Give their products a serious look and check out the awards one of the owners has won.

Good tying,

Joe

Shame on me. Got busy and flat out forgot the link.

Joe, please post the link to that site!

not that you need any more leads, but our local Wally-Mart has similar kits. I can’t speak for the material quality, but I’m sure it’s good enough to wet the tying appetite of a youngster.

MarkF, link? I posted the link to Rainy’s. If your talking about the dealer in Lubbock, there is no web site but the address and phone number can be found through the Rainy’s link.

Here is the link to the site Joe was talking about:

Thanks, Brad. I got busy and had a “Senior Moment”

No problem Joe, I have them all the time.
