ok. i need some help. what is the best site to get nymph and wetfly hooks in large quantities for cheap? im looking for sizes 14, 16, 18.

What kind of hooks (brand/model) and what kinds of quantities?

Hook and Hackle, a sponsor of FAOL has good prices on their house brand of hooks and Mustad 100 packs.

But if you’re looking for large quantities (1,000’s) or something specific that’s a little fancier folks might have other suggestions unless you can get Ron from H and H to special order them for you.

You really didn’t say if you prefered one brand over another of if it mattered much.

You can also check Ebay for some good prices.

Hi Dryfly,

Nice to have a neighbor near by. I’m in Anderson, SC. I’ve always been very pleased with Hook and Hackle for both service and good quality merchandise. If you stick with name brand hooks, I don’t think that you will have any problems with excess breakage. I still use the old classic Mustad #9671 for most of my standard flies since I bought several thousand of these years ago. You got a significantly better price for large quantities then. I don’t think many companies offer that now to amateur fly tyers. I don’t think I would by any hooks from China just yet. :slight_smile: 8T :slight_smile:

Dan Bailey’s used to sell hooks by the thousand, as well. Haven’t done business with them in years, however.

thanks fer posting that website… im gonna look at it in detail later on when i git more time… my hook supply is gettin a little low… i like to keep at least 200 of every hook i use in stock at all times…

I’m with Gig on Capt Hooks, I order all my jig hooks through there. Now with winter around the corner it’s stock up time for fly hooks. Just because a style of hook isn’t on the site, email and ask about it!!! Many times they don’t have everything up yet or they may be able to get it for you. Just a satisfied customer

capt hooks sure doesnt carry alot of mustad fly hooks. i clicked on the “fly hooks” button and there is a limited supply of mustad fly hooks. he doesnt even carry the new signature line and very few of the old "classic line.

try hook and hackle, a sponsor on this site. they sell/used to sell hooks in the 100 count at a discount also. however i dont think the signature line sells in the 100 qty. try out the h&h brand in the 100 qty pack.

If you are just looking for cheap hooks, you might want to try Togen hooks: http://www.togenenterprises.com/flyhooks.html. At less than $7/100, they appear to be hard to beat.

My personal preference is Tiemco in 100 packs which you should be able to find almost anywhere. They are of course much more expensive but I prefer their large barbless selection. The Togen hooks have been getting decent reviews, and I’m unaware of a better retail price point across as wide a variety of hooks.

I’ve dealt with MRFC before with no complaints. Some of their closeouts are very good deals. If you want a reliable hook at a decent price, try Montana Fly Company. Here’s a link to a retailer:

No a huge selections, but good quality hook for under $10. per 100. They also have most of MFC’s material also. Not a bad price on their tung beads either.
