I just saw and heard on TV…there is an auction where you can bid on going fly fishing with former president Jimmy Carter and his wife.
Just reporting you decide…and no I think this is so about fly fishing it should not be in sound off:p.

Is there a link?
It’s an auction for the Carter Center here. #48
He’s living proof that educated morons can flyfish too. I’d sooner bid on a sharp stick in the eye.
Wow. Bitter, bitter.
Politics a side, I’d spend a day fishing with just about anyone that wants to fish with a fly rod.
I wouldn’t mind being able to say I went fly fishing with an ex president.
umm maybe its my not reading the discription right but your only having cocktails, dinner and lunch with the carters you and 7 guests get to fish with guides. where does it say you get to fish with them. i’m confused.
doesnt appear you will be fishing with an ex president
The Brigadoon Lodge, one of the premier fly fishing resorts in North America, located in the North Georgia mountains, is offering a vacation to remember. You and up to seven of your friends (eight total) will arrive for a day of fishing on Oct. 15, 2010. That evening, President and Mrs. Carter will join you for cocktails and dinner provided by Proof of the Pudding. On Oct. 16, you will have another full day of fishing, including lunch with the Carters, before departing late in the afternoon. Fishing guides, tackle, and meals are included, although transportation is not. The dates for this trip cannot be changed, so please check your schedules before bidding.
Donor(s): Rebekah Stewart, Proof of the Pudding, Perfect 1864 Vodka
Value: $10,000.00
How much they willing to pay me to go with him??
This will probably be at Bridgadoon or one of the other high dollar fishing resort in No. Georgia. If I had $10,000 to spend foolishly I would spend the day with my three best friends who like to fly fish, have a couple of good cold beers and a good meal.
Jimmy Carter is a good man and contributes to the community well when he is building house for Habitat for Humanity. Here in the Atlanta area he reminds us too frequently why Miss Lillian said “Sometimes when I look at my children, I wish I had remained a virgin.” You can look it up she said it.
Bigfin…I wouldn’t bid on something allowing me to spend time with somebody I don’t respect…based simply on the position. I’d have a better time with a bobber and worms while fishing with my 6yr old son.
Mr Carter is a personal hero of mine and I’d be proud to fish with him.
For anyone that cares to learn and understand him better, I’d be happy to lend you one of his books.
I havent respected one since Dwight D! And its NOT for what he did as Pres…but for what he did in WWII.
Sure…he’s a great man…just ask him;)
C’mon folks. I think most of this thread is considered fllaming. The ex-pres isn’t even a member of the board, that I know of.
Sorry…I’ll leave the ol’fella alone:-)
I’ll be honest and apolitical. I don’t think that fishing in the presence of a secret service detail guarding any president sounds like much fun. I like to relax when I fish.
But, in all honesty, thanks for pointing out the opportunity.
Ed
I’ll fish with just about anyone; ex-presidents, ex-republicans, ex-democrats. Doesn’t really matter who or what you are. Would I jump at a chance to fish with Carter? Yes, just as I would any other president of this country, past, present or future. I like to fish and I enjoy fishing with other people. Doesn’t matter if you haul garbage for a living or not.
I’ll bid a dollar.
