Fly Fishing President

Chill it guys! You’re getting political rather than fishing.

Just the truth, Rainbowchaser.
Anything that starts off with president in the title IS political.
Nuff said? ! ?

I gotta agree!! TIME OUT!!!

Ohhh, OK. :frowning:
How long do I gotta go sit in the corner? :frowning:

…since you asked Sonny…in FAOL, because talk isn’t supposed to be
about politics or religion…I’d say until you can think of something
nice and/or positive to say…since you asked.

Until … :stuck_out_tongue:

Sonny never mind the corner. Go stand in cold river for a couple of hours. Post pictures.

Ooooo!! Ooooooo!! Can I come too?!?!?!?

That’s like having pedophile do community service at a playground!

Take Political conversations to a social group and bash away any party if you want, just keep this thread on topic and about ANY President that fly fishes.

I didn’t vote for Carter (wasn’t old enough at the time!) but that cane rod sure is sweet. President Carter is a true Southern Gentleman. I know G.H.W Bush was on the cover of Fly Fisherman magazine. All I could find was the cover shot for that, but I swear I saw at one time pics of him with a fly rod. I have seen him with a huge Tarpon, but I think that was on spinning gear. Still counts in my Opinion since at least he was fishing! With the family place in Maine, I’m sure they’ve got their share of Stripers.

i was at a sam maloof workshop at highland hardware in atlanta. sam was an american icon and the best american chair builder ever. about half way through the first day mr. carter and his wife strolled in! he and sam were old friends. they sat in on the class. during our break i got to talk to him. he is a hardcore fly fisherman! i didnt vote for him but he is such a gentleman and was wonderful to talk to! also i have a friend that is a watercolor artist. his name is wyatt waters. he was painting on a river in texas when all of a sudden secrete servicemen came up to him. george h.w. bush was fly fishing and they needed to check him out! after he was done fishing he came up to wyatt and apologized for disturbing his painting and then bought 4 paintings from him! he is another “good guy”!

On that Fly Fisherman cover G.H.W. Bush was holding a spin rod just as he uses up there in Kennebunkport. But in that tarpon picture you’re thinking of he’s holding a fly rod

Mr Carter actually wrote an article for Fly Fisherman… Not the best piece they ever published but a good first effort

Grubb,
President Harding was from Northern Ohio but while in office in the early 20’s use to come down to what is now a State Park with a 1200 acre lake, about 15 miles from where I live in South Central Ohio. Sadly he did not come for fly fishing but for pheasant hunting retreats. The original cabin was renovated in the early 70’s after the dam was built and the lake was filling. This lake is my ‘home’ water that I fish most often. It is cool to hunt and fish areas with a known history.

I know, it’s not a fly fishing president, but it’s local presidential history to me. (and it beats yapping about current politics)

Rainbowchaser, could you make ME go stand in a cold river for a couple of hours?
PLEASE?

Ed

Can’t do it Ed. You love your cubicle too much.

This is torture!
“Can I just stay here, PLEASE?”

This Dolt concurs. Sonny, go forth and fish!
