Fly Fishing presentation in Carmel, CA

If you’re in the area, like I am, come to 3945 Rio Rd. Carmel CA.
this evening 7:30 PM -4/08/09 A Fly fishing presentation by the “someone”.
Sorry for the vagueness of this info but I read it in the local Monetrey County Herald and since today was garbage pickup day, the paper was recycled.
I’ll be wearing my Chicago Blackhawks Green ball cap, forgot my FAOL chapeau at home in IL.

Dang Mark, I will be there next week. My wife and our granddaughter and I are going to Big Sur for Spring Break. Too bad I won’t fish but as near as I can tell all seasons on the rivers and creeks are closed until late this month or May. Jim

I’ll be there in three weeks! Are there any fly shops to visit?

Jim- Too bad you’re a week late but Big Sur is great ANYTIME. Make sure you do coffee and- at the Big Sur Bakery. Sinfully outtasight apple strudel.
Bam- the fly shop to visit is Central Coast Flyfishing on Carmel Valley Road in Carmel. Helpful folks and can tell ya all you need to know about fresh and salt water fly fishing around here. I’m not here to fish but I did chuck some bait into the surf anticipating some Surf Perch at the new Ft. Ord Dunes State Park----still anticipating however.
And to da bode a yuz, visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium while you’re here.

Dang Marco, I would have liked to meet up with you, but my son has a little league game.

Marc:

Thanks!

Hey TF,
Cannot miss a boys Little League game for ANYTHING. I just got back from the presentation and it was interesting. My friend and I have never fly fished the surf and the speaker made it sound like a piece of cake. He suggested that many landlocked fisherfolk are weary of salt water because of their lighter equipment. According to him, a 5-6 wt is enough in most cases.(That’s hard to believe) I have been in the surf at aforementioned Ft. Ord Dunes and Carmel Bay and there’s NO WAY I’m stepping anywhere NEAR those breakers in the last few days. Seeme more likely that a 12-15 foot 10 wt would be needed to cast over the breakers and into the trough. But ,then again. he’s local and must know…
In any case TF, maybe next time we’ll hook up for sure and partake in an In-n-Out over some fishin tales.( Had one on the way here from SJC at the Gilroy store—mmmmmm).

Jim and Bam,
You might want to check on a US 1 road closure at about 24 miles South of Carmel ( Big Sur is 26 miles) . Just noticed a sign apparently put up this PM regarding this closure. Probably a washout from today’s rain. So if you’re travelling South from San Jose etc., you should check this out first.

Hopefully Arnold has enough cash to get it fixed before I get there.

Thanks for the heads up!
