Fly Fishing Opinions

Chris,

You’re right. I posted my response early in this thread and should have left it at that.
Thanks for that other stuff.

Allan

i have no idea where you people fish-i have never seen any of this??been fishing about 60yrs.you must be searching for it??

bob faorite past-times winter steelie fishing-fall bow-hunting-would write more but with my typing i would be here for wks.??

I say if somebody is snobby you punch them in the nose and move on!!! Just kidding! I have seen this and it makes me simply think the same thing we all think when we run into people that think they are above everybody else. I just wonder if they sit on the stool and use toilet paper too It’s a waste of my time trying to understand people like that. Life is to short and I’m here to enjoy Fly Fishing regardless of what a small percent of fellow FF’s think or act like. Most FF’s are good people just like the rest. We simply love the beauty, serenity, and challenge the sport provides. Most I have met have been more than willing to talk, help and even give pointers.

In as much as flyfishing, I’ve never seen this kind of thing either. I have seen some elitist attitudes in my lifetime, but when fishing, everyone seems pretty happy to let folks alone, or help them improve their fishing.
I met a couple of guys who fished “correctly”, if you will. One of them asked if I was catching all the good trout. I responded that I hadn’t caught anything at all that day. He handed me a couple of #22 brassies and some of his 7X froghair and told me how to fish them, then said if I needed more help just come ask him.
He didn’t care which rod I was using, what brand line I had, how many pockets my vest had, etc. He just wanted to make sure I was catching. That’s a “real” fisherman, IMO.
