I had talked to someone here by PM about fly fishing near the Tulsa area during the winter. Unfortunately, I’ve lost the messages that I had sent and received. Can anyone give any info on the where’s and when’s on this?
I have some put and take available in my area over the winter, but thought it would be a nice change to get out somewhere new at the end of December. Thanks.
I don’t know of fly fishing spot in the immediate area around Tulsa, but if you don’t mind driving for two to three hours then the White river below beaver dam in NW Arkansas has good fly fishing. Roaring river in SW Missouri is also a good fly fishing creek, it is catch and release but has lots of large trout lurking amongst the 12 to 14 inchers:D

There is fly fishing near Tulsa in Gore, Oklahoma on the lower illinois river (which is, for lack of a better term, my home water). I fish there quite a bit and would love to show you around when you get down this way. Drop me an IM if you want to meet up and I can arrange it with my boss (a/k/a, my wife, ahhahahaha).
As Midge Man mentioned, the Lower Illinois River near Gore is the closest year-round trout fishery. Lake Pawhuska, west of the town of Pawhuska is a winter put and take trout fishery. The Arkansas River in Tulsa has land-locked stripers, hybrids, and white bass, and can fish quite well in the winter, depending on flows from Keystone dam.

Cool! Actually, I think it was midge man that I had talked to before, so hopefully I am back on track here. Thanks! I think I may have to head south at the end of the month.
