Fly Fishing guide recommendations Little River, AR

Hi everyone. I hope this is the right place for this. If not, please accept my apologies.
My son and I are taking a short trip to fly fish for trout on the Little Red in Arkansas and are wanting to use a quide for the first day. This will be his first time on the Little Red. Can anyone help with recommendations for a good quide? We are both competent fly casters on still waters but lack experience in moving water. Thank you in advance for any advice you can give.

Best regards,

Doyle Caviness

Doyle,
Not as familiar with the Little Red but you could try Ozark Anglers in Little Rock or Heber Springs. Have not fished with them, but have heard good things. If you have an interest in the white river system, hear are a few names. Davy Wotten, Clint Wilkinson, Steve Dally, and Jimmy Traylor.

Thank you Steve. I’ll check out the Ozark Anglers.

I highly recommend Jamie Rouse. I fished with him a few years back and he was great. Some of my fishing buddies have used him as well.
Check him out at: www.jamierouse.net

And as far as the White River system, SteveW’s recommendations are all top notch.

Thanks so much for your reply bgreer. I will check Jamie out.

Best guide I’ve ever met - period. He’s also an FAOL member.

I agree with Heritage Angler that John Wilson is a great guide. I know him and I have fished with him. He is extremely knowledgeable and it shows!
But John mainly guides on the White R. and the Norfork R.

Doyle,

Check out Davy Wotton’s guide service

If I was going down there to fish I would use Davy.

Doyle,
You may also want to check out Denise Barton. She is on the Little Red and has a great reputation. That river is my home water and it should be fishing well for you. The generation is not too much right now so you will have the oppportunity for some good wading. The spawn is a few weeks away and that is an exciting time all around. Good luck and good fishing.
