Fly box

I am looking for a box with no dividers inside about the size of a VCR tape. Something I can carry in my back pocket. Anyone have any ideas. (VCR tape box is too big).

Thanks,
Tom

Altoid tin.

What kelkay said…shoot, i must have a dozen ‘toids’ boxes full of who knows what all flies. Recently received some nice dry flies from an FAOL member that were shipped in a ‘toids’ box and had been carefully lined with some ccf. They weren’t minty either !

Crappie Crazy,

Plano makes some of it’s pocket sized plastic boxes without dividers. I seldom see these in stores, but sometimes the catalogs have them. I own a few, so I know they are out there.

If a bit smaller works for you, you can get a ‘3pack’ of waterproof (they have a gasket) plastic boxes at Sports Authority. One is dividerless. These will fit easily in a shirt pocket.

Also look at the strorage boxes they sell at craft stores. Sometimes they have things in that size range.

Good Luck!

Buddy

how about a hat, then you don’t have to have anything in your pockets

If you don’t want the foam on either side you can easily remove it.

Or:

Cabela’s #IA-313506

Or:

Cabela’s #IA-314083

With the Cabela’s Nubby Tack boxes you can easily remove the Nubby Tack.

oops…misread

Take a look at this.

Michaels has 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch clear plastic boxes for $1.99. I bought some and made some great C&F style boxes per normans instructions. If you have a store near you, give them a look!

I use a lot of empty electrical tape cases. 3.5 inches around by .75 inches deep. Ask any electrician or maintenance person to save you a few. I can fit one in a shirt pocket with a spool of tippet and some floatant. That leaves the other pocket open for a camera.

Sucrets throat losenges come in a plastic case. I like them better than the metal altoids case. Of course you have to have a sore throat to make it cost effective.

I really like Cabela’s double nubby tack boxes. I have two of the small size boxes that I use for bluegill flies. The medium size box should fit your needs pretty well!
