Florida Keys Anglers? ( Off Topic: Meals & Wheels )

Hi all,

We’ll be spending a couple of weeks fishing in the Key West & Islamorda area and on this trip that means two weeks of eating out. So we’re looking for recommendations of restaurants ( by type of cuisine ) that serve lighter fare, or those that you could eat at frequently.
Oh sure we’ll end up having a few dinners in the high life spots, but we’d like our arteries to survive the trip.

While I’m at it, have you first hand knowledge of a " good " bike shop that offers half day rentals of quality bikes in either Key West or Islamorda? Preferably one that rents something other than cruisers.

Thank you, Dave

Hi Dave,

Since your response rate has not been heavy concerning food and bikes, I thought I would point out that there are half a billion guides concerning the amenities of South Florida and the Keys. I use to go to this area all the time but increased prices and increased work load have cut down on recent trips so I can’t offer many up-to-date suggestions. I always liked the “Unofficial Guide” series which gives much more honest information. Many of these restaurants also post their prices and menus on the web. Good luck and have fun. 8T

Don’t miss the Banana Cafe on Duval near mile zero marker.
Leigh Ann’s in Marathon for breakfast and coffee is also very good.
The Hard Rock on Duval is reliable as always.
The Rum Barrel is a nice (not to loud) bar that has an acceptable restaurant.

Gils,

Many thanks. PM sent.

CoachBob,

That’s the ticket! Just the kind of first hand , been there - done that, info that I’m looking for.
Two weeks and two hundred eateries to choose from - thanks for helping to whittle that down some.
If I can return the favor sometime, I’m at your service.
Thank you sir.

Yes indeed, I went that route. I phoned home months ago and they sent us the Florida Key’s Guide to everything that anyone would every want, the same held true for the Key’s Visitor online sites - tons of info - really to much to objectively wade through.

	Thanks again everyone, Dave
