Thanks for getting back with me during such a hectic time with the holidays, family gatherings and all.
I expect we’ll see more responses after Christmas/New Years, and we’ll be able to nail down specifics.
In the meantime, Kate and I wish all of you a merry Christmas. But most of all, good health. We know first-hand that without good health, there is no happiness.
May God bless all of you this coming year.

weekend works for me and wading is good also hell i’m easy fishing is fishing
Party of two…We are definetly interested in the wade fishing and the night fishing for snook. We would be staying in Sarasota. Most likey we would come down for one of the weeks in February.
I assume the wading is done for red fish and sea trout I would like some info on how the snook fishing is done under the lights if not by wading or kayak.
Charlie
Glad to have you join us, Charlie. The night snooking is done from a boat.
Tony
Yikes … … February!?
The weekend of Feb 23rd thru 25th is booked. The grandson and I are camping/kayaking/fishing in Chokoloskee that weekend. Campsite booked and approval from mom for him to take a leave of absence (play hooky
) that Friday.
The weekend before is only tentatively booked.
The Feb. night Snook fishing is very enticing but early to mid March would work better for me.
I’ll probably come down for a week, possibly with my brother. I’ll camp if I’m by myself and fish day and night, wade, yak, whatever it takes. I’ve got some new flies I’m dying to try.
Thunderthumbs.
Add us to your list. This will be our third FFI,great people and great times. Can’t wait to see ya’all. March would be better for us.
Les & Judy Maynard
OK. boys and girls–let’s positively nail down the date for the Florida Fish-In. Lots of folks are ambivalent, and some prefer early March.
So, how about we make it the week of March 4? Several of you have already said “I’m in!” Please confirm your intentions ASAP, with requests for camping or motel info, so that Kevin and I can make the whole thing work as smoothly as possible. Sure, there undoubtedly will be glitches, but we’ll try to keep 'em to a minimum.
Once we have a pretty good idea of number of people, where they’ll be staying, etc., we can set up Party Central and work out the fishing part of the deal.
If anyone needs casting instruction for saltwater, we’ll need to know that too, so we can try to do a quickie seminar. If you want guides, book 'em sooner rather than later because that’s a very busy time of year. Ditto if you want to rent yaks.
Tight Loops,
We stayed at the recommended motel last winter and the rooms were comfortable and clean. Coin operated laundry on-site. See ya there!

MEMO TO ALL FISH-IN PARTICIPANTS!!!
Probably the best thing to do is use Kevin at Casey Key A&O as your primary contact once you get into the Venice area. He’s in the shop every day except Monday–and probably will be in on THAT Monday, too!
Phone is 941-483-1115. He can give you updates on fishing conditions on a daily basis. You can call me at 941-496-4289, but I might (I BETTER!!!, Kate says) be out guiding.
We can use CKA&O as the “rally point” and direct you to fishing, etc., from there.
If you plan to stay at the Venice Holiday Inn (941-485-5411), make sure to tell the reservations people you get the Tight Loops Fly Fishing special rate.
Also, please let me know, and I’ll talk with Sales Manager Debra Petty about letting us have a meeting room that can be used for fly tying, video-watching, pizza-and-beer gorging, and general bs-ing.
Obviously, we’d need to have four or five rooms booked in order for that to happen. When I bring in groups of anglers from Up North that’s what we do. There’s a grocery and liquor store across the street from the HI, so the folks get soda and beer to stock the cooler I provide.
I also can bring in some tying tools and materials if you don’t want to cart all your stuff down here.
Unless I’m booked for a night snook charter, we also do free tying classes at the shop on Tues. and Th. 6-8pm.
We’ll also plan on doing one or two cook-outs at my house once we get a handle on things.
Questions/comments/observations??? Now’s the time to get 'em answered!!!
Tony
Tony? Once you set the dates please let me know and I’ll put up a Fish-In page for it
The week of March 4, 2007.
I get a discounted rate ($98 per vs. $150 per) at the Venice Holiday Inn. Camping is available at Oscar Sherer State Park in Nokomis.
You also can go to www.FLAUSA.com and click on this area for other motel/camping/yak rental options.
Tight Loops,
I’m there! I will probably drive down and bring my own yak, and I would like to camp.
I can’t wait!
Thunderthumbs.
Howdy Capt., just wondering if the Fish-In starts Sunday the 4th & goes thru to the 11th, or is the 4th the barbeque grande finale 8) ?
It starts on Kate’s birthday, March 4.
Tony
Party hats, candles, cake & ice cream :!:  in our Sunday best for the first Sunday & then all the seasoned pirates can dress down accordingly for the rest of the week
8)
Tightloops, there’s always the Veranda Inn rooms if need be for that many attendees & wanna-be-pirates but no place to stay. Probably have to inquire, but they did have an open invite for FAOL guests with another FL Fish-In in '07 :!:
