FLOCHART Caddis Larva...

I am currently working on a series of caddis larva patterns to bounce in the drift this spring and further on…

FLOCHART CADDIS LARVA

HOOK: TMC 2488H, # 12-#16
TAG: Silver Holo Tinsel, Sm.
UNDER BODY: Fl. Chartreuse Wapsi Ultra thread, 70 denier
OVER BODY: Glitter D Rib, Clear…May be whisked with a Brown Chartpak Marker
SHELL: Brown Scud Back, 1/8 "
THORAX: Buggy Nymph Dubbing, Hare’s Ear
LEGS: Black Ostrich Herl, trim on bottom
HEAD: Gordon Griffiths 14/0 Sheer, Black…used to tie in shell, thorax dubbing and ostrich herl

Some things borrowed from John Barr and CA tier, Greg Vinci to come up with a simple fly pattern to represent the rhyacophila caddis larva which are prevalent in places such as this

Wild Trout section of the Lower Owens River, Bishop, CA…

Take what you want and leave the rest…

I love the pictures of the places you fish.

Very nice fly. Well done.

PT,

Great looking pattern. Excellent photo as well, that lighting really makes the fly “pop”. Great pic of the Lower Owens as well. I really appreciate seeing the waters other get to fish. Thanks also for the recipe for that fly.
