Floating Worm

I have an idea for a san juan worm variant that would be boyant. I want to fish it 12" to 18" below a split shot so that it floats just above the bottom. Anyone seen anything like this?

Kind of like filling a night crawler with air to float it off the bottom, sounds like a good Idea, you could also use it with just a little weight to get it just below the surface.

Greg,

Cut a length of foam from a sheet using the color you want and make it about a 1/8" to 3/16" wide and the length you want to use. You can then segment it by ringing it with the same color thread. Then tie it onto a dry fly hook and you will be good to go.

This time of year in local salt ponds, cinder worms spawn near or on the surface on moon tides.
Striped bass eat them like candy.
