Does anybody know of any places I can use my float tube in central Texas (Austin area)? They don’t seem to be allowed in many places around here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

What about Town Lake? When I lived down there, we use to tube Town Lake all the time. Good fishing too! Especially on the upper end around Red Bud Island.
In an effort to “protect” revenue sorces, Austin has banned float tubes in Town Lake. The Highland Lakes should be fine, just be carefull of power boats. Find a good cove to launch in. I used to tube at Quarry Lake. Grainger, Bastrop, Bull Creek, and Deckerare posibles
The thrill is not in the kill. It’s in the deception.

Thanks! That’s pretty much what I was looking for. Now to find out if there is any way to access those lakes without having to shell out $$ to LCRA.
On the subject of Town Lake: I have tried to contact park officials on whether or not tubes are allowed, but everything I have heard so far says no. I saw a document a while back on the internet that said they didn’t allow any sort of swimming or wading (including float tubes) due to the undertoes that are frequently quite strong.
Cheers!
