FL Fish In Flies Question

Well, we’re less than 2 weeks away and I’m checking out the fly boxes. Ken’s ready to tie whatever is missing.

So, what do we need? What patterns, colors and hook sizes?

Do you use Flurocarbon leaders? Or just mono…

Any other tips?

The low temp here was 14 deg. this weekend.
Can you tell I’m getting antsy!

Red eyes and black eyes seem to be better than chartreuse I’v been told.

The geezer

Excus my spelling and gramma, I hooked Mondays and Fridays so I could Hunt or fish.

Good webpage old geezer for the Crystal Schminnow, but it’s easier to figure 8 the eyes in first & then tie in the marabou tail up to just behind the eyes to make a smooth body. Then add a couple of strands of Krystal Flash, wrap back to the tail & tie in the estaz. Other SW Florida favorites are clousers, deceivers, seaducers, crab patterns, muddlers, gurglers & bendbacks. #1 or #2 flies in natural shades,( white is basic )are suitable to “match the hatch” .Just depends on what you are most confident fishing with. Some people use mono, but more seem to favor fluorocarbon, even up to 60 pound test for pulling the bruisers out of the mangroves or from under the docks. Usually 25 pound test is sufficient and you’ll get more strikes, but also more breakoffs . It was only 80 on the lanai today, sweated thru 3 changes of clothes trying to get the new shed filled with the 2 old sheds contents, which has been an ongoing 2 week process. Probably get finished just in time for hurricane season, as this has been 18 months in the making.

That weather looks so…wonderful!!!

Light winds and sunshine! Yippee!!!

SW, you got mail.
