Fishing in the FL panhandle

Rather than going back to Key West next winter, my wife thought she might like to go someplace different. What type of fishing could I expect around Panama City and west? What weight rod would be recommended? We are looking at the end of Feb first part of March.

Dave, I haven’t fished in that area myself, I have friend who have friends they visit and fish for redfish in the Panama City, FL area. Speckled trout may be a possibility also. I found the following on a Google search, their website made me want to come on down.

Try the area around Appilachicola (sp) to the east of Panama City, west of Tallahasse. Supposed to be some good wadable marsh areas.
