fishing bandoleers

I’m wondering if anyone out there isa using them instead of a vest or chest pack. Also who all makes them. I know that William Joseph makes a couple of styles and I’ve heard that Orvis might also, but I haven’t seen it yet.
I’ve been fishing on the minimal side lately (a small holster type bag under the arm and a lanyard), but I’ve found that I dont have room for water a camera etc. Haven’t touched my vest in years and will probably never touch it again.

Thanks for any input,

Kevin

Orvis did have one, but I haven’t seen it in a couple of years, so I think they discontinued making them. The ol’ man had a WJ and didn’t care for it, not sure why.

My Orvis Spring 2006 catalog shows what they call the Safe Passage DS Sling Pack for $49. It may be what you are looking for.

WarrenP,
That’s the one. Has a clip on fly box pouch. Pretty nice. I missed that totally.
Nice to know they still make it.

I use one in the salt. It is a 12 dollar fanny pack that I throw over one shoulder.

I use a Patagonia Double Haul, which is kind of a cross between a bandolier and chest pack. The front chest pack section holds two or three fly boxes and the back section has enough room for a water bottle, wading jacket and some snacks. It is very comfortable in hot weather. I liked it more than a similar William Joseph pack that seemed to be quite a bit heavier.

Flychucker, yes, Orvis does have one available, and for $49 it is a great deal.

The William and joseph “creel” are great also, more features then the Orvis but it will run you more money, $85.

A lot of people really like the built-in tippet dispenser in the W&J.

I have sold quite a few of both of these models this year so far.
