Fished with Green Bay Packer Legend.

http://www.packers.com/news/stories/1997/11/10/1/

Bob and I went out last thursday morning for a couple hours.
Bob landed 20 trout.

Bob played left offensive tackle for the packers from 1953 to 1968.

He started in The Ice Bowl/Super Bowl I & II

Bob is from the era where professional football players were that…professional…

The days before the Pacman Jones…Tos…
The days before you demanded a new contract long before the current one you signed expired!

When MEN were MEN…
And your word meant something.

Is a breath of fresh air every time we fish together.

You can still see the twinkle in Bob’s eye when he
describes the huddle at the Ice Bowl before the famous quarterback sneak.

He is from the era where players spent their off time helping the community. He has a non-profit group for Altzheimers which he is still active in at almost 74 years old.

I must admit being a die hard Packer Fan I envy you being able to fish with such a legend of the game .

On the 23rd of last month The Altzheimer group that Bob is with had a charity golf outing in Millwauke.

Some of the Ice Bowl Players did a tour of the Altzheimer’s facility they were doing their outing for…

Bob and Bart were walking together in the facility. One of the nurse’s pulled Bob and Bart aside and told them that this particular patient was a Diehard packer fan…

But recently he had not spoken for quite a while…His illness was getting worse.

Bart and Bob introduced themself to the patient. As Bart shook the guy’s hand…The guy who had not spoken in over 6 months looked up at Bart and smiled and Said: “Bart Star…Ice Bowl.”

Both Bart and Bob were brought to tear.

Wonderful story thanks for sharing it .

Bob and Bart’s example was very important to me growing up. I was in awe of the Packers for yrs. The same goes for the Celtics.
I’m glad you had a great day with Bob!

Isn’t it amazing meeting guys like that. Usually they are more “normal everyday people” than you and I are.
