Reminds me of a few small streams out this way. Fishing gets really tough at times, and then other times, as soon as your fly hits the water, some aggressive little trout will fly across the water to smack it.
The reel is a Hardy Cascapedia 2/3/4. I call it my KHardy as it is machined in Korea. Some folks seem to have a problem with that, but not I. It’s a great
reel, very affordable too! Loaded with an Airflo Ridgeline DT4F in persimmon.
The rod is an A.J. Thramer Signature Series build. This one is a reproduction of the Heddon Featherweight Model 50 President. 7’ 2/2. It is a beaut, and fishes better than it looks. I believe Mr. Thramer was very pleasantly surprised by the little rod when he was finished with it. I’ll try and post some pictures of it if anyone is interested?
Nice post Bob. And a special little stream, I’m sure!
Remember that recent post on the bamboo forum about fishing the lighter weight rods? Well, my litle 3wt I posted about yesterday was meant for right here, on that thar stream!!!
Thanks Jeremy. You’re right, your 3 weight would be perfect also…if that’s possible?
George Guba’s Paynes are as true to an original as you can get!
I took some pictures yesterday but my Sony Cybershot is just not very good at closeups. I’ll try and get some better ones today. Gotta get a better camera!
I love casting canes. I went home early, 10 A.M., yesterday with some chores that had to be taken care of and it was SO NICE outside I lined up a special 4wt (that I’ll likely never beat for the action and craftsmanship) and spent close to 45 mins just toying with some casts on the lawn.
The loopage was beautiful. With that rod it’s an easy task. And the presentations made me think I’m finally a’catchin’ on to the fly fishing thing…
Don’t kid us my friend, we know you can handle a fly rod!
I like getting a rod out and doing a little practice also.
Was in the backyard yesterday casting an old Orvis Special 8 footer.
Man, it was perfect with a Teeny WF7F!
Gonna take it smallmouth fishing the next chance I get!
