Fished a small stream last Friday

One of my favorite little small streams here in North Carolina.

It was a wonderful mind-clearing day.

A little prayer never hurts…

Chose one of my little 7 footers for a 4 weight…perfect…

A typical plunge pool on this shallow gradient little stream…

Another…this one was home to a beautiful 13" brown, a fish to be proud of in this little stream.

More pictures, but I understand we’re only allowed so many in one post?

you can reply to your own post & attach more pictures

Thank you solowookie!

This little brown is more typical…

A few more pics of the beautiful pools on this water…

Bob

Beautiful water, reminds me of the spring creeks that I fish. Nice photos, thanks for sharing.

Very nice small stream photos. Thanks for that.

Looks like a great place to spend a day or ten.

Reminds me of a few small streams out this way. Fishing gets really tough at times, and then other times, as soon as your fly hits the water, some aggressive little trout will fly across the water to smack it.

VERY nice, Bob. Tight quarters in some places, beautiful water in all places !!

John

Bob, what was the fly in that brown’s mouth? Wulff? Thunderhead? H&L Variant?

Thanks,
Ed

Beautiful stream and fish! Thanks for sharing!

Bob,

Very nice pics. I sure enjoyed fishing those tiny creeks when I was stationed in NC.

Very nice reel on that very pretty rod too.

REE

You pegged it Ed…#14 Royal Wulff.

Thank you REE.

The reel is a Hardy Cascapedia 2/3/4. I call it my KHardy as it is machined in Korea. Some folks seem to have a problem with that, but not I. It’s a great
reel, very affordable too! Loaded with an Airflo Ridgeline DT4F in persimmon.

The rod is an A.J. Thramer Signature Series build. This one is a reproduction of the Heddon Featherweight Model 50 President. 7’ 2/2. It is a beaut, and fishes better than it looks. I believe Mr. Thramer was very pleasantly surprised by the little rod when he was finished with it. I’ll try and post some pictures of it if anyone is interested?

Bob

Beautiful scenery and great spots to fish. Thanks for sharing with us. That 13"er was a monster for that stream.

Beaver

darn thats a great looking rod and reel!

Ahhhh, well, yeah…

Nice post Bob. And a special little stream, I’m sure!

Remember that recent post on the bamboo forum about fishing the lighter weight rods? Well, my litle 3wt I posted about yesterday was meant for right here, on that thar stream!!!

Two thumbs up kiddo!

Jeremy.

Thanks Jeremy. You’re right, your 3 weight would be perfect also…if that’s possible?
George Guba’s Paynes are as true to an original as you can get!

I took some pictures yesterday but my Sony Cybershot is just not very good at closeups. I’ll try and get some better ones today. Gotta get a better camera!

Bob

Well, here you go Jeremy. These pics suck!
Don’t do the rod anywhere near the justice it deserves!

Bob

Bob,

What a beautiful piece of craftsmanship! Very nice rod. Love the dark flamed bamboo rods. Thanks for the pics.

REE

Bob,

WOW! Great rod. Love the look.

Beaver

Bob,

Nice rod indeed. Thank you.

I love casting canes. I went home early, 10 A.M., yesterday with some chores that had to be taken care of and it was SO NICE outside I lined up a special 4wt (that I’ll likely never beat for the action and craftsmanship) and spent close to 45 mins just toying with some casts on the lawn.

The loopage was beautiful. With that rod it’s an easy task. And the presentations made me think I’m finally a’catchin’ on to the fly fishing thing…

Jeremy.

Jeremy,

Don’t kid us my friend, we know you can handle a fly rod!

I like getting a rod out and doing a little practice also.
Was in the backyard yesterday casting an old Orvis Special 8 footer.
Man, it was perfect with a Teeny WF7F!

Gonna take it smallmouth fishing the next chance I get!

Bob

p.s. What happened to those chores??
