Fish-Ins for all

The Idaho Fish-In this year will be the last to be held there, time to move it again S
If you were thinking you could make it next year, sorry folks - this year is it.

The main ‘official’ FAOL Fish-In for 2006 will be in Michigan, Aug. or Sept. (date not set yet) probably headquartered on the mainstream of the AuSable…more information to come on that one. Jack Hise and his
cronies will be heading that one…it’s a whole year away! JC and I will be there.

The eastern Fish-In will again be in Roscoe NY, Allan Podell has not yet set the dates on that one, however in the past it has been the last of May - through the Memorial Day weekend.

The Central Washington Fish-In will continue for the West coast folks, usually early June, headquartered in Ephrata WA, and fishing Rocky Ford Creek for big trout and several local lakes for panfish.

Chris Chin is working on a possible Atlantic Salmon/Searun Brookies on his home waters, Ste-Marguerite River in central Quebec, for August of 2006.

The pirates are working on a date for the Florida Fish-In as well. This year the dates were February 13th - February 22nd. More news on that as we have it.

For folks wanting to do something regionally,
go for it - we will help publicize it.

It’s been a tough week, let’s see if we can look forward to something really good. Let’s go fish!

Guys & Gals;
LadyFisher and I had a long phone conversation about the 2006 Ausable Fish-In replacing the Idaho Fish-In for 2006 last night. Needless to say I was somewhat in awe of idea. Lots of area people have offered to help and I will be calling on them (via email) for assistance.
Urseus and Flyfishmichigan please email me so I can get your email addys.
I’ve been printing the profile page from all of you that have responded so I can keep you updated.
Kneff Lake seems to be a perfect family activities spot close to several Ausable access points. It is a desiginated Trout Lake also. I do have a couple of portable showers and the cost of which would be a pail of water!
Gates Lodge is also not far away on the same road, “Stephan Bridge” [url=http://www.gateslodge.com:54587]www.gateslodge.com[/url:54587] or gator@gateslodge.com
In town Gates Lodge recommended “The Point North” (ask for Adrian) 989 348 5950. Check out Grayling, MI on the internet or Ausable River, MI for more info.
I would also reccomend contacting the “Fly Factory” or “Gates Lodge” to order a copy of T.U.'s “Guide to the Ausable River”. $22.00 but could save a lot of time “Banging” around later.
A Friday evening cook out was also discussed. How’s a "Bring your own steak and a dish to pass sound? Or, a Fish Fry (Walleye) with a dish to pass and a donation to cover the cost of the fish?
Deanna is going to try to get one of the local Fly Tiers to give a demo and we can have casting contests on the beach. I will be the “How not to” example!!

Know you should understand my signature!!

I feel more like I do now than I did when I got here!

Jack,
As you know, I am willing (“able” is another question) to help in any possible. I am on already for smoked brisket & I wouldn’t rule out another meal of beer/spice boiled & grilled brats…when my wife heard the winner of the Superbowl tailgate food (the brats), she said, “Hey, that’s YOUR recipe!” Due to the attendance we anticipate, I am asking that someone with another water smoker available respond.

I had a nice vist with Rusty Gates at Gates Lodge today - they will do a group rate for 8 or more people staying at the Lodge. JC and I probably will stay there, which means 6 more for the special rates. They have good food on site, breakfast, lunch and dinner and it is right on the Holy Water (Main Stream AuSable River).

Rusty also suggested, depending on the size of the group, Keystone as a camp ground. JC and I were married there - however it only has 18 campsites, BUT it is right on the river and good fishing right there.

Mike;
If we can’t find one I’ll buy another! Just tell me what you need? I, as well as you will want our members to leave saying “That Was Great, lets come back next year!”.
Maybe we can lay out some plans at the next Cabela’s trip

Order the Guide to the river.

The Cabela’s planning session sounds like a great idea. Just let me know when. I am willing to do anything I can to help.

I’ll be looking forward to this one. Its about 1/2 the distance to travel as any of the fish ins I have been to. And it sounds like a dandy spot to put a bend in some bamboo.

The annual “Colorado Fly Fishing and Liver Abuse Festival” is held in August at Parshall, CO. It is a great time and the tee shirts are genuine conversation starters.
