First tiger on a fly

Caught my first tiger musky on a wooly leech. He was only 16 inches long, but still my first!

Merak,
That had to be some thrill! Color this Irishman “green with envy”!! Always good to add a new fly caught species.
Mike

so he had to have put up one heckuva fight? What weight rod were you fishing?

Hope you get some more soon!!

Would have been more fun on the 5 wtbut was using my 8 weight beater, cheap rod that works. Only had a 5x tip though. It was on the St Croix and I am looking forward to taking the BIG Rod out for the larger members of the tribe. I found a Diamondback Backwater 9wt on ebay for $80 new and am rigged for the big boys. 9wt Rio Clouser and SA concept 2 reel. Hope the reel is up to the challenge.

I’m envious. I’ve been to Canada many times trying to catch a tiger muskie but have yet to score that one. I have a personal goal to catch a new species of fish every year on a fly rod.
