I did not put much into the artistic quality of these as time was a little short that day. Also all of that on the ground is covered in about 1/2 inch of ice. I did not want to do much stomping around for fear of falling with the camera. Pentax has come a long way in the shock resistance of their digital single lens reflex (DSLR) cameras but it is best not to chance it.
Sorry, no fish porn yet. Most of the creeks are iced up but perhaps next week I will venture to open waters.
Nice pics. I like Pentax equipment. For 20 years my medium format 645 worked flawlessly. I recently sold it on ebay and the guy thought it was brand new. I was hoping they come out with a digital insert for it, but Pentax decided to drop the medium format 645 and 67. Too bad, they were awesome cameras and the lenses where as good as it gets.
OMG, bud, all you had to do was buy a new DSLR body. All of the new and old Pentax DSLR bodies are compatible with your older, better glass.
That is the nice thing about all the Pentax DSLR cameras. Virtually any glass, made by any manufacturer for Pentax bodies over the last 30-50 years will work on the new DSLR. Anyone out there that has old Pentax film lenses do not let them go! There are a lot of digital Pentax photographer out there that will pay you very well for them or you can treat yourself to a new DSLR camera body, a couple of inexpensive adapters if needed for any screw mount lenses and have fun.
The lens on a medium format is bigger then the lenses used on a 35mm. Even with an adapter I would miss the ease of autofocus too much to make it worth my while.
DSLRs rock! I can tweak the settings in RAW to give me near Kodachrome characteristics. That is probably the one thing I miss about film format, Kodachrome 64 and 25 slide film. They forced you to really understand exposure. Not much room for error with a 1/2 stop latitude.
Ah, yes, that wonderful huge dynamic range of film, especially Kodachrome. Though the DSLR is close to film’s dynamic range it still is not quite there. Shooting in RAW is the way to go and allows to expand that range with a good Photo Processing software.
I understand that at least two of the major manufacturers are bringing out a new DSLR expanded range improvement soon that is supposed to knock our socks off!
